Hekate

Hekate…

tells the story of a teenager’s summer of chores that turns bizarre when his reclusive grandmother starts making strange, sometimes monstrous, requests.

The writer and director of the project, Mitch Herndon, commissioned cassette art for the fictional band, Dead Men of Glasgow, during the pre-production stage. A stock image was used for the woman and I created a simple texture layer using actual cassette tape art to achieve the aged effect.

After production wrapped, Mitch approached me about creating a poster for the film. He gave me a folder full of inspiration, including stills from the film, images of: human teeth, cow hearts and used tissues as well as a few mockups he had done himself. I found that the heart served as a nice reference to the film without giving too much away.
